Mission

Materiały i Sprawozdania Rzeszowskiego Ośrodka Archeologicznego (Materials and Reports of the Rzeszów Archeological Center, MSROA) is a journal  from the field of archaeology, concentrated mainly around the research issues of the south-eastern Poland, as well as Polish-Slovak and Polish-Ukrainian border territories. The journal has been published continuously since 1961 (since 2018 in the electronic form), putting an emphasis on issues connected with research at sites in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe, regardless of the age and period from which the relics and monuments studied originate. We are also willing to engage in the issues of the field study methodology, analysis and interpretation of the archaeological monuments and archaeology theory.

MSROA is a forum for academic researchers and professionals – we are open to Polish and foreign authors, our objective is to present the latest texts from the aforementioned field, as well as the presentation and promotion of the latest achievements of the local archaeological community.

We do not charge any editorial fees or printing fees; we do not envisage any remuneration for authors or reviewers.

The journal is published in the Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities under Open Access CC BY-NC-ND license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/pl/).

Publication ethics principles

The editorial board of MSROA scholarly journal, although he is not a member of the COPE Publishing Ethics Committee, adopted the publication ethics principles compliant with the requirements of COPE – the Committee on Publication Ethics and applies them fully. The authors are obliged in the declaration to confirm that their work meets all the adopted publication ethics standards.

The editorial board of “Materiały i Sprawozdania Rzeszowskiego Ośrodka Archeologicznego” informs that in order to counteract ghostwriting and guest authorship, appropriate procedures connected with ghostwriting firewall have been introduced. Ghostwriting and guest authorship are a manifestation of scientific misconduct, all the detected cases will be disclosed, including the notification of relevant entities (institutions hiring the authors, scientific societies, associations of scientific editors, etc.)

Ghostwriting is when a person has contributed significantly to the publication without disclosing his/her contribution as one of the authors or without specifying his/her role in the acknowledgment appearing in the publication. Guest authorship (honorary authorship) is when the author’s contribution is insignificant or has not occurred at all, and in spite of that, he/she is the publication’s author/co-author.

Additionally, the editorial board of MSROA will document any and all manifestations of scientific misconduct, especially breaking and violating the ethics principles applicable in science.

If the publisher discovers any scientific misconduct, he/she follows the procedure recommended by COPE. You can find a procedure algorithm here
